Rescue Works Continue in China

Pelastustyöt jatkuvat Kiinan maanjäristysalueella. Maanjäristys tapahtui Sichuanin maakunnassa maanantaina. Kiina ilmoittaa, että maanjäristyksessä on kuollut noin 15 000 ihmistä. Kuolleita ihmisiä löytyy koko ajan lisää, joten kuolleita voi olla paljon enemmän kuin 15 000.

Rescue works are continuing in the China earthquake areas. The earthquake took place in the Sichuan province on Monday. China announced that some 15000 died in the earthquake. Dead bodies are being found more and more all the time, which means that the number of dead may be more than 15000.

No access to relief workers in Myanmar

Tilanne Myanmarin myrskyalueella on vaikea. Avustajat eivät pääse auttamaan ihmisiä, jotka kärsivät Myanmarin myrskyn takia. Ulkomaiset avustajat ja toimittajat kertovat, että Myanmarin sotilashallitus on tiukentanut valvontaa. Maanteillä on tarkastuspaikkoja, joista ei päästetä ulkomaalaisia tuhoutuneille alueille.

The situation in Myanmar’s hurricane areas is dire. Relief workers are not able to able to help the people who are suffering in the hurricane. Foreign relief workers and journalists are saying that the Myanmar junta is tightening its control. There are road blocks on country roads, because of which foreigners cannot be taken to the afflicted areas.

Campaign financing scandal

Kansanedustaja Timo Kalli on muuttanut mieltään vaalirahoista. Keskustapuolueen Timo Kalli aikoo nyt palauttaa osan rahoista niille yrityksille, jotka ovat antaneet hänelle rahaa vaalikuluihin.

MP Timo Kalli has changed his mind regarding election money. Centre Party’s Timo Kalli will be returning some of the money the companies that gave him money for election costs.

Kun ihmiset ovat vaaleissa ehdokkaina, he tarvitsevat rahaa esimerkiksi mainoksiin. Monet yritykset antavat rahaa ehdokkaille. Kansanedustajan täytyy kertoa rahan antajan nimi, jos rahamäärä on enemmän kuin 1700 euroa. Näin sanoo Suomen laki.

When people are candidates, they need money for thier campaigns. Many companies gave money to the candidates. Member of parliaments must say the name of the donator, if the value of money is over €1700. Thus says the Finnish Law.

Putin cancelled visit to Finland

Vladimir Putin ei tule Suomeen ensi viikolla. Venäjän pääministerin ja entisen presidentin Putinin vierailu Suomeen on peruttu. Vierailun peruuntumisen syytä ei ole kerrottu. Vielä ei tiedetä, milloin Putin aikoo tulla Suomeen.

Vladimir Putin will not be coming to Finland next week. The Russian Prime Minister and former President Putin’s visit has been cancelled. The cancellation reason has not been given. It is yet unknown when Putin plans to visit Finland.
